Croatia has been ranked as the fifth best country to live in Europe in 2023, according to a recent liveability study.
The study, conducted by U.S. research blog My Dolce Casa about moving, living and retiring abroad, identified the sweet spots in Europe that offer a combination of great quality of life and a reasonable cost of living.
Using the latest Numbeo data, researchers used a formula that took into account the lowest cost of living and the highest quality of life.
According to the study, Croatia ranked in the top five thanks to its great mix of great quality of life and affordability.
“Croatia has a low cost of living score of 47 and a well above average quality of life score of 163, thus offering a great lifestyle at a reasonable price,” the research revealed.
Croatia was out-ranked only by Spain, Portugal, Netherlands and Slovenia.
Spain claimed the first place, boasting the best mix: a very high quality of life (score 174) at a moderate cost (score 51).
Austria came in 10th, while Germany was 11th. Italy ranks only 29th, offering a much lower quality of life at a higher cost of living compared to Croatia.
