ZAGREB, May 17 (Hina) – Croatian museums are joining in the celebration of International Museum Day, which will be observed on 18 May this year with the theme: “Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion”.

Following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and a strong quake that hit Zagreb and northwestern Croatia on 22 March, many museums and galleries had to change their plans for International Museum Day and organise virtual events, exhibitions and tours.

Croatia’s Museum Documentation Centre (MDC) provides information about those programmes on its website.

The centre underscores the fact that in the last 15 years, there have been more and more programmes targeting different groups of visitors, taking into consideration their age, level of education and other specific features. There has also been a rising number of museum programmes suitable for disabled persons.

International Museum Day is an international day observed annually on or around 18 May and coordinated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
