Croat Wins World Bartender Champs In China

Croatian cocktail master Danijel Furcic has won gold in the Sparkling Cocktail category at the World Bartender Championships which were held in Beijing, China this week.

Furcic, who is the Croatian cocktail-making champion, beat bartenders from 56 countries in the world with his “Magic Emerald” cocktail to take away the title. More than 10,000 bartenders from around the world take part each year in the World Bartender Champs.

The win allows Furcic to compete at the World Grand Prix event with 5 winners from other categories for the title of Best Bartender for the Cocktail of the Year 2012 award. Furcic, who works in a cafe bar in Croatia’s capital Zagreb, will face barmen from Uruguay, Italy, Japan, Peru and Bulgaria in the Grand Prix event.

Furcic’s efforts make him the most successful Croatian bartender in the last decade, reports Slobodna Dalmacija.
