Chelsea To Target Modric With £22m bid, Claims The Sun

It happens every January when the English Premiership transfer window is about to close – rumours and speculation.

This time Britain’s The Sun newspaper claims that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will make a £22m bid for Real Madrid’s Croatian international Luka Modric.

It will be Chelsea’s second attempt at trying to lure Modric to Stamford Bridge, two years ago Chelsea offered Modric £40m before he signed for Tottenham Hotspurs. The Sun reports that Modric is seen as the ideal replacement for Frank Lampard, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
