Businesses Fined for Not Flying Croatian Flag on Independence Day

CroatiaCouncil inspectors in the Dalmatian town of Makarska have issued fines to 9 tourist agencies and banks because they did not have a Croatian flag flying above their door on the nations Independence Day on 8 October, reports Makarska kronika. According to the report, besides the 17,000 kuna (2,300 EUR) fines issued to the 9 perpetrators, a further 23 warnings were issued by the council to other businesses who also did not proudly fly the Croatian flag on 8 October. The 9 who were fined had previously ignored warnings.
