Brothers and sisters from Croatia celebrate at World Rowing Cup

6 June 2021 – Three sets of brothers and sisters from Croatia have won medals at the World Rowing Cup III in Sabaudia, Italy on Sunday.  

The Sinković brothers, Martin and Valent, won yet another world rowing gold medal on Sunday after winning the final of the men’s pairs a the World Rowing Cup III in Sabaudia. 

Continuing on from their great form in at the recent World Rowing Cup in Zagreb, the Croatians won in a time of 6:16.79. The Great Britain crew took second place in a time of 6:23.10, while thrid place went to another Croatian crew of brothers, Patrik and Anton Lončarić with a time of 6:25.89.

With this performance, the Sinković brothers ended the season without a loss and became the overall winners of the World Cup for this year. This was the last test before the most important race – the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The brothers have now won 8 world gold medals to go with the 5 European Championship golds. They also have an Olympic gold and silver medal under their belts.

In the women’s pair final, twin sisters Ivana and Josipa Jurković won the silver medal. The sisters, from Vela Luka on the island of Korčula, won gold at the recent World Cup in Zagreb.
