ZAGREB, 18 December 2025 (Hina) – Croatian singer Bernarda Brunović has finished in an impressive fourth place in the final of the popular television show The Voice of Germany, marking a significant moment in her international music career.
The 32-year-old blind singer, who lives in Switzerland, shared her joy on social media following the final.
“Fourth place – I am over the moon! It was a dream journey,” Brunović wrote on Instagram.
Throughout the season, Brunović delivered a series of standout performances that drew attention for their emotional depth, technical precision and strong stage presence.
Her journey culminated in the final with a special performance alongside Michael Patrick Kelly, her mentor from 2018, bringing their long-standing artistic collaboration full circle.
“I am grateful for every moment, every encounter, all the wonderful contestants and the amazing team,” she said after the show.
Brunović previously competed three times at Croatia’s Dora selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and is well known to Croatian audiences.
During her run on The Voice of Germany, she received strong support from the Croatian diaspora, particularly in Switzerland.
“All those in the diaspora who voted for her will agree that she truly won the hearts of the audience,” reported Hrvati.ch, a portal focused on the Croatian community in Switzerland.
Born in Zagreb, Brunović has faced visual impairment since early childhood due to congenital glaucoma caused by high eye pressure.
She moved with her parents to Switzerland at a young age in search of medical treatment.
Despite undergoing 33 operations, her condition remained, and in 2001 she lost her left eye, now wearing a glass prosthesis. Her family ultimately settled in Switzerland, where her parents built successful professional lives.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Brunović once said she was fortunate to have a happy childhood outside hospital walls and learned early how to cope with life’s challenges. She has often spoken about drawing strength from her faith.
Alongside singing, she writes music and plays the piano and guitar. She also enjoys running, swimming and skiing, and reads in the evenings using assistive computer technology. Inspiration for her songs comes from everyday life and spirituality.
