The Croatian capital Zagreb is once again preparing to transform into a fairy-tale stage of lights, music and festive aromas as the city’s much-loved Advent celebrations return this winter.

The 2025 Advent in Zagreb officially begins on 29 November with the lighting of the first Advent candle at Manduševac, marking the start of the festive season.

Mayor Tomislav Tomašević announced today that the festive glow will also return to the Upper Town, which will once more serve as one of the central hubs for holiday events.

“Given the great interest, we’ve organised two Merry Christmas Trams this year,” said the Mayor, encouraging visitors to make use of public transport due to expected crowds.

Alongside the main squares, Ban Jelačić Square, European Square, Kvatrić, Zrinjevac, Strossmayer Square and King Tomislav Square, this year will again feature the Humanitarian High School Advent at Kennedy Square, adding a charitable touch to the celebrations.
