Prominent royal visitors to Opatija feature in new exhibition

Opatija

ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) – The exhibition titled “Once upon a time, there was an Emperor” was on Friday staged in the Croatian Museum of Tourism in Opatija, focusing on emperors, kings and other members of royal families who visited that Croatian seaside resort in the past.

This project is part of the national programme “Museum Night 2019”.

In the past  some of those prominent guests in this Adriatic city were Emperor Franz Joseph Habsburg and his wife Elisabeth of Austria known as Sisi, Prussian Emperor Wilhelm II and his wife Augusta Victoria, Romanian King Carol I, Ferdinand I of Bulgaria, Greek monarch George, Victor Emmanuel III, Ethiopian ruler Haile Selassie and some other very important persons.

Their visits contributed to positioning Opatija as a sought-after tourist destination on the market.

The exhibition, which runs through 10 April, underscores great potential for promotion of Opatija.
