Croatian Walking Festival to be Held this Weekend

First Croatian Walking Festival to be held in Lika

The first Croatian Walking Festival is set to place next weekend in the towns of Gospić and Otočac. 

Participants from all over Croatia and abroad will tackle six special trails in the event organised by the Lika-Senj Tourist Board. 

On 1 September, participants will conquer trails in Gospić and the following day on 2 September they will head to Otočac. Each town will have a long, short and mini trail. 

1 September

Tesla Trail (30 km) – Gospić 

The trail starts at the Stjepan Radić square in Gospić in the direction of Smiljan. The first major break is in the Memorial Centre Nikola Tesla. Route then continues towards Debelo Brdo, Novoselo, Lički Novi and Žabica. After entering Gospić, last stop before the finish is Jasikovac park, from which the route proceeds towards the starting point which is also the finish point.

Tesla Trail (20 km) 

The trail starts at the Stjepan Radić square in Gospić in the direction of Smiljan. The first major break is in the Memorial Centre Nikola Tesla. Route then continues towards Debelo Brdo, Lički Novi and Žabica. After entering Gospić the route proceeds through the city centre to the starting point which is also the finish point.

2 September

Gacka (34 km) – Otočac

The trail starts in Otočac centre in the direction of Čovići village, through Ličko Lešće and all the way to Sinac. The first major break will be there, at the Vrilo Gacke (Spring of Gacka). Route then proceeds through Sinac towards Čovići, and through Prozori village to the starting/finishing point.

Gacka (18 km) – Otočac

The trail starts in Otočac centre in the direction of Čovići village to Sinac. The first major break will be there, at the Vrilo Gacke (Spring of Gacka). Route then proceeds through Sinac towards Čovići, and through Prozori village to the starting/finishing point.

Mini Gacka 12 km

Gacka Trail (34 km)

The final application date is 28 August and the registration fee includes official t-shirts, start numbers, water, a hot meal, fruit, babysitter for dogs and even transportation between the two towns.
