Hajduk Split to Carry Croatian Hopes in UEFA Europa League

Hajduk Split managed to turn around a 2-3 result from their first leg against Slovenian side Koper, whilst NK Rijeka and NK Lokomotiva ended their European campaigns.

Playing in front of a big crowd at Split’s Poljud stadium, Hajduk took an early lead against Koper before running away winners on the night 4-1 and 6-4 on aggregate. NK Rijeka went into their clash with Aberdeen in Scotland trailing 3-0. There looked there could be hope for the Croatian side when they went up 2-0, but two quick goals from Aberdeen ended Rijeka’s hopes.

It was a disappointing night in Greece for NK Lokomotiva. Going into the match with a 2-1 advantage, NK Lokomotiva were taken apart by Igor Tudor’s PAOK side in Solun. The Greeks scored at will to run away with the match 6-0.

UEFA Europa League Qualifying, 2nd Round Qualifying, 2nd Leg:

Hajduk – Koper 4:1 (6:4)
Aberdeen – Rijeka 2:2 (5:2)
PAOK – Lokomotiva 6:0 (7:2)
