Smoking Kills 10,000 A Year In Croatia

More than 10,000 people die each year from smoking-related diseases in Croatia, warned its Health Minister Rajko Ostojic at the Croatian-American workshop on cancer prevention and tobacco control.

Ostojic says that education about the damage caused from smoking needs to start early.

“Smoking kills one in three kids who start and become chain smokers. 10,000 people in Croatia die each year from diseases related to smoking. That is the equivalent of a town the size of Umag or Makarska,” said the Minister.
