General Ante Gotovina Secures €1 Million Credit for Tuna Business

Ante GotovinaFreed Croatian general Ante Gotovina, who was acquitted by a Hague Court in November last year after spending more than 7 years in jail, is flourishing in his new role as a businessman.

According to Globus magazine, Gotovina, who in January formed the tuna farming company Pelagos net farma, has just acquired 7.9 million kuna (just over 1 million euros) credit from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) to develop his business. The report says that Gotovina has spent more than half the money received from the loan on part of the tuna fishing quotas (22 tonnes) from private owners. Gotovina’s company is allowed a quota of up to 40 tonnes. The rest of the loan, about 40 percent of the total, will be invested in equipment and the purchase of the boat.
