The ski season on Sljeme officially begins on Saturday, 10 January 2026, with the opening of the Green and White ski runs, bringing welcome winter conditions to Zagreb’s Medvednica mountain.
As in the previous two seasons, skiing will once again be free for citizens, continuing the city’s initiative to make winter sports more accessible to residents, Grad Zagreb confirmed.
With large crowds expected due to favourable snow conditions, visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transport when travelling to Sljeme.
Parking capacity at the lower cable car station and nearby outdoor car parks is limited, and motorists are advised not to drive to the summit to help reduce congestion.
The Sljeme cable car remains free of charge for Zagreb residents, offering a convenient and sustainable way to reach the ski area.
Cable Car and Transport Information
From Saturday, cable car operating hours will be adjusted to coincide with the ski season.
• Weekdays:
◦ First departure: 8:00 am
◦ Last departure from lower station: 4:30 pm
◦ Last return from Sljeme: 5:00 pm
• Weekends:

Garage opening hours will be aligned with the revised cable car schedule.
Additionally, bus line 140 (Mihaljevac–Sljeme) will operate every hour on weekends, providing another public transport option for visitors.
