New €2 ‘Pula Arena’ coin being released

(Croatian Mint)

The Croatian National Bank (Hrvatska narodna banka – HNB) has announced that it will release a new €2 commemorative coin titled “City of Pula – Arena” on 24 October 2025, as part of its “Croatian Cities” series.

The new coin celebrates one of Croatia’s most iconic landmarks, the Pula Arena, a magnificent Roman amphitheatre and one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in the world.

The Arena, a long-standing symbol of Pula’s history and culture, previously featured on the reverse side of the 10-kuna banknote.

Design and Issue Details

A total of 200,000 coins will be minted, with 190,000 available to the public for exchange. The artistic design of the national side was created by Duje Botteri, an academic sculptor, while the coins were struck by the Croatian Mint (Hrvatska kovnica novca d.o.o.).

As with other commemorative coins, the “City of Pula – Arena” €2 coin will also serve as legal tender, meaning it can be used in everyday transactions.
