SPLIT, 12 October 2025 – Locals and visitors enjoying a Sunday morning stroll along Split’s popular Western Waterfront (Zapadna Obala) were treated to an unexpected and heart-warming sight – a dolphin swimming gracefully through the city’s harbour.
The curious dolphin appeared near the waterfront, gliding close to the shore and delighting onlookers who stopped to capture the moment on their phones.
At one point, the dolphin could be seen surfacing near the bow of the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship, currently docked in Split’s port.
Its playful appearance added a touch of magic to an already sunny autumn morning.
After a few minutes of exploration and as several yachts approached to take a closer look, the dolphin dived back into the deeper waters of the Adriatic.
While dolphins in the Adriatic Sea are not an uncommon sight, especially further from the coast, their appearance inside urban harbours such as Split’s is more rare and always a great moment.
