The central Croatan city of Bjelovar is set to welcome a brand-new, modern sports arena which will meet the requirements for both domestic and European competitions.

Mayor Dario Hrebak confirmed that the main project for the new Arena Bjelovar has been finalised, with construction scheduled to begin in March 2026.

Completion is planned for August 2027.

The project, worth an estimated €10 million, will be partly financed through the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s Urban Development Fund, which is expected to cover 45% of the total cost.

The new stadium will have a capacity of 5,040 seats, along with an additional 140 seats in the VIP section. Once complete, it will meet all criteria for matches in Croatia’s top flight, the SuperSport HNL, as well as international European competitions.

One of the most distinctive features of Arena Bjelovar will be a state-of-the-art indoor shooting range for small-calibre rifle and pistol.

Situated beneath the new stand, it will be the first facility of its kind in Croatia. The range will also serve as a training base for Olympic shooter Miran Maričić and his fellow athletes.

The project marks a major step in Bjelovar’s sporting development, promising not only to boost the city’s football infrastructure but also to strengthen support for elite shooters at the national and international level.
