ZAGREB, 26 September 2025 – Croatia Post has announced that it is no longer accepting applications for its new pilot project involving part-time postal delivery in larger residential buildings.

The decision comes after more than 1,000 residents applied, exceeding expectations.

The project, currently being tested in Zagreb, was launched to simplify the delivery process and boost efficiency for postal workers.

In larger apartment blocks, postmen often spend hours sorting letters due to numerous and sometimes incorrectly labelled mailboxes.

Under the pilot scheme, residents of these buildings can be employed on a part-time basis to deliver standard letters, such as bills, directly into mailboxes.

As residents are already familiar with their buildings and neighbours, Croatia Post believes this approach will not only speed up the process but also enhance the security of deliveries.

The scheme covers only ordinary letter mail. Parcels, registered letters, and other items requiring direct handover remain outside the project.

Compensation for participants depends on the size of the building and the frequency of deliveries, ranging from €100 to €300 per month.

Beyond efficiency, Croatia Post also hopes the initiative will help offset the shortage of full-time staff.

The level of interest among citizens has surpassed initial expectations, and whether the model will be extended further will depend on the results of the Zagreb pilot.
