Deliver your building’s mail and earn, says Croatian Post

Croatian Post (Hrvatska pošta) has launched a new pilot project giving residents the chance to earn extra income by helping deliver post within their own buildings.
Under the initiative, titled “Deliver post in your building and earn”, citizens are invited to distribute ordinary letters into mailboxes in their residential blocks.
The project is being tested as a more flexible, part-time model of employment.
Payment will depend on the number of mailboxes in a building and the frequency of deliveries, with earnings ranging from €100 to €300 per month.
The company explained to RTL Danas that postmen can often spend several hours sorting ordinary letters in large blocks, particularly when mailboxes are incorrectly marked.
By involving residents who know their buildings and neighbours, Croatian Post hopes to increase both efficiency and productivity. This would also free up postmen to focus on other deliveries.
Another advantage, the company noted, is safety. Having a resident handle the final stage of distribution reduces the risks associated with unfamiliar staff entering buildings.
In addition, it helps foreign workers, who may struggle with local names on post, by limiting their role to delivering mail to buildings rather than sorting it.
The pilot project covers only ordinary letters such as bills. Parcels, registered items, court documents and other deliveries requiring a signature are not included.
Participants will be engaged on a contractual basis, with rights and obligations clearly defined. Croatian Post said contracts will be terminated if the service is not carried out according to agreed rules.
Despite a 20% salary increase for operational workers this year alone – and an 80% rise since 2017 – Croatian Post continues to face challenges in recruitment.
The scheme, therefore, is also aimed at addressing staff shortages while giving citizens, including retirees or those already employed, a chance for additional, legally regulated income.
The company confirmed that it has already received the first applications and expects strong interest in this flexible new form of employment.
Those interested can contact Croatian Post by email or phone, as advertised in promotional leaflets placed in Zagreb buildings.
