Croatia aims for world’s longest strudel with 3 km of deliciousness

ŠtrudlafestNext Saturday, 6 September, the small village of Jaškovo will host the traditional Strudlafest, where Karlovac County, together with the city of Karlovac and town of Ozalj, will attempt to create the world’s longest line of strudels – measuring an incredible 3 kilometres.

Jaškovo is no stranger to the record books. Back in 2015, locals and volunteers baked their way to a Guinness World Record with a strudel stretching 1,479.38 metres.

Now, exactly ten years later, the challenge is on again – this time to double the length.

The strudel assembly will begin at 11 a.m., with hundreds of hands working together to carefully place and connect the sweet pastry.

If all goes to plan, by 3 p.m. the record-breaking strudel will be ready for official measurement, with a Guinness World Records judge arriving from London to confirm the attempt.

Beyond the thrill of the challenge, the giant strudel has a special purpose.

Once officially measured, it will be donated to institutions, organisations and those most in need.

The event is backed with huge support from the local community, and organisers say pride will fill the hearts of all participants if Croatia succeeds in breaking the record once again.

Of course, Strudlafest offers much more than just record-breaking excitement. Visitors can enjoy strudel-themed walks, cycling and kayaking tours, as well as the popular Strudlomanijak picnic.

Creative and educational workshops will be running throughout the weekend, along with displays of old traditions.

While Saturday is dedicated to the Guinness World Record attempt, Sunday, 7 September, will see the eagerly anticipated competition for Croatia’s Best Strudel.
