For the first time in history, a dog bred and owned in Croatia has won the title of the most beautiful dog in the world at the largest global dog show.
At the FCI World Dog Show, held in Helsinki, two Croatian dogs reached the prestigious Sunday grand final.
From ten finalists, the judges selected the overall winner.
The title went to Meghan, a female petit basset griffon vendéen, owned and bred by Iva Raic.
Competing under her full name Black Majesty Some Say, Meghan triumphed as the winner of the sixth FCI group, which includes all scent hounds.
She beat competition from 15,720 dogs from across the globe to claim the crown.

Croatia’s success did not stop there. Also in the final was Liza, a miniature schnauzer bred by Ante Lučin and owned by Lučin and Javier M. Gonzales. Liza was the champion of the second FCI group, which includes pinschers, schnauzers and molossers.
This victory marks a new peak in a series of remarkable achievements for Croatian dogs and breeders. In recent years, the dalmatian Dudu claimed the title of Europe’s most beautiful dog, while the celebrated lagotto romagnolo Orca won at the legendary Crufts. Meghan’s triumph now places Croatia firmly at the top of the canine world.
The petit basset griffon vendéen is a small breed originating from France, known for its distinctive appearance and lively personality.
Once valued as a hunting dog, it is today appreciated as a loyal family companion.
