ZAGREB, 4 Aug (Hina) – The Sinjska Alka tournament that was postponed on Sunday will take place on Sunday, 10 August, Stipe Jukić, president of the Alka Knights Society, said following a joint session of the Society’s leadership.

“Due to heavy rain, we had to postpone the 310th Alka today, as the weather conditions were unfavourable and the racetrack unsafe for competition,” Jukić said yesterday.

He added that visitors who had tickets for the event will be able to use them on the new date.

Jukić also noted that this is the fourth time in the past 50 years that the tournament has been postponed.

The Sinjska Alka is a traditional mounted tournament where riders attempt to hit a small metal ring (the “alka”) with a lance at full gallop.
