For the second time, in the very heart of Dubrovnik, in the wonderful ambience of the creative district Lazareti, a festival will be held that perfectly combines top gastronomy, great entertainment and the opportunity to participate in numerous educational workshops – all under one name: Bavarian.
From May 5 to 14, 2023, Dubrovnik’s favourite street food festival will experience its spring premiere, and the big surprise of this year’s Bavarian is that many guests who find themselves in Dubrovnik on those days will have the opportunity to taste cocktails signed by the bartender from the London bar Lyaness, who won the Spirited Awards for the best bar in the world in 2022.
As many as ten days of gastro-musical and educational spectacle will present the best of the local food and drink offering, along with an unmissable concert lineup, but also the addition of real international bartending cream.
Festival director Antonio Franić will announce more details about the program in the middle of April, but what is known is that visitors can expect as many as six concerts, about fifteen workshops, a championship in the making of the traditional Dubrovnik dessert – rožata, and the team from London’s Lyaness bar in those ten days will present this award-winning bar through a panel and pass on their knowledge through a workshop to the younger generations who want to deal with this branch of catering.
“Over five thousand visitors who enjoyed the first edition of Bavarin last year over four days were an indication that we can stand alongside world street food festivals with our unique gastronomic, musical and educational offer. The picture of the Lazarets filled is certainly one of the most beautiful postcards sent to the world from Dubrovnik last fall! Getting Lyaness as a guest lecturer at this festival is raising this story to a higher level, and I’m looking forward to it immensely,” said Antonio Franić, director of the festival.
One thing is certain. One of the most beautiful oases in Dubrovnik will become an unmissable location for anyone looking for a fun and educational place for all-day socialising, an evening out or just to enjoy the finest snacks from the best Croatian chefs, among whom will once again be Tea Mamut, Robert Predrag Žmire, Gorana “Goge” Milaković, Beg’s plant based street food, the award-winning Zadar team Picnic Mingle & Fun as well as some new names that will present Dubrovnik gastronomy.
Another novelty is that this year Bavarin and its Trogir “festival brother” Babarol will also be presented at one of the biggest festivals in the region, the Weekend Food Festival in Rovinj from the 14th to the 16th. April, where the world’s best chefs such as Franco Pepe, Maša Salopek, Dabiz Munoz and Ana Roš will be present – and in their company the gourmet offer of Bavarin and Babarolo.
Entry to all ten days of the second edition of Bavarin is of free this year as well.
Expect all additional information about the catering offer as well as the rich music and entertainment program soon on the festival’s social networks, Facebook and Instagram, as well as on the official page of the Tourist Board of the City of Dubrovnik.
