4th Croatian World Football Club Championships kick-off in Zagreb 

25 June 2019 The 4th Croatian World Football Club Championships opened on Monday in Zagreb.

The FIFA-sanctioned invitation tournament features teams from the Croatian diaspora around and yesterday it opened at the Stjepan Spajić stadium, home of Hrvatski Dragovoljac in the Zagreb suburb of Siget.

Six teams are battling it out this year – Canberra FC (Australia), SC Croat San Pedro (USA), NK Pajde Möhlin (Switzerland), NK Croatia Toronto (Canada), SV Slavonija Bern (Switzerland), Vojvođanski Hrvata (Serbia). 

The teams have been divided into two groups of three teams:

Group A
Canberra FC
SC Croat San Pedro
NK Pajde Möhlin

Group B
NK Croatia Toronto
SV Slavonija Bern
Vojvođanski Hrvata

In the opening match in Group A, defending champions NK Pajde Möhlin drew 1-1 with SC Croat San Pedro. Goalscorers were Miro Kovačić and Carlos Gustavo.

In the opening match in Group B, Vojvođanski Hrvata beat SV Slavonija Bern 5:1. For the winners, there was hat-trick from Srđan Orčić, and goals to Dario Vojnić and Atila Kemenj. Branimir Radoš got one back for SV Slavonija Bern. 

The group winners will play the final on 28 June (18:30) with 5th-6th, 3rd-4th playoff matches played earlier in the day. 

Organised by the Croatian Football Federation in cooperation with the Croatian Heritage Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia, the Croatian World Club Championships are held every 4 years, with the first tournament held in 2007.
