More than 20,000 volunteers have removed over 1,000 tonnes of waste in Croatia so far as part of the “Green Cleanup” campaign which started this week.
Green Cleanup is the largest environmental campaign in Croatia and organiser Helena Traub says that the clean up will continue over the weekend on during next week. The main aim of the clean up is to identify dumping sites, mark them on the map and clear them out.
This is the second year that the Green Cleanup campaign has been running in Croatia. Last year over 40,000 volunteers cleaned up more than 3,500 tonnes of waste. Green Cleanup Croatia hope that the clean up exercise will be carried out twice a year.
