22-year-old Miss Columbia Paulina Vega was crowned Miss Universe, beating out first runner-up Miss USA Nia Sanchez. Vega, a model and student of business administration from Barranquilla, Colombia, said she would wear the crown with “pride and excitement”. Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha was the second runner-up was, whilst Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell and Miss Netherlands Yasmin Verheijen were also among the top five.
Miss Croatia not in Top 15
Croatia’s hope Mišura failed to make the top 15, which included; Miss Argentina – Valentina Ferrer, Miss Australia – Tegan Martin, Miss Philippines – Mary Jean Lastimosa, Miss Spain – Desirée Cordero Ferrer, Miss Venezuela – Migbelis Castellanos, Miss Brazil – Melissa Gurgel, Miss France – Camille Cerf, Miss India – Noyonita Lodh, Miss Indonesia – Elvira Devinamira and Miss Italy – Valentina Bonariva.

Mišura, a 25-year-old model from the capital Zagreb, competed with all 88 contestants in evening gown and swimwear section last night. Mišura will find out on the final night of the Miss Universe competition on Sunday if she is one of the Top 15 finalists.

Mišura will have a busy schedule ahead of her, including photo sessions and preliminary swimsuit and evening gown contests before Miss Universe 2014 takes place at the US Century Bank Arena at Florida International University on 25 January.

Ivana, a model from the capital Zagreb, will wear a Mina Petra design in the national costume section at the pageant. Current Miss Universe Maria Gabriela Isler from Venezuela will hand over the crown to one of the girls from the 88 competing nations.

Meri Benčić, was the first runner-up, with Andrea Generalić taking second runner-up. The title of Miss Congeniality was won by Andjela Marijanović, while Miss Photogenic went to Matea Hunjad.
