Croatian Post Monopoly To Be Broken By Austrians

Austrian Post, through their Croatian company, want to become the first alternative postal service operator in Croatia. Weber Escal & Post will bid for the under 50 grams postal delivery service business in Croatia, and with it breaking Croatian Post’s monopoly on the market.

Austrian Post’s vice president Andreas Dragosits announced the companies strategic plans for Croatia with Weber Escal & Post director general Igor Velimirovic at a press conference in Zagreb yesterday.

The Austrians plan to take between 3 to 5% of market share in Croatia in its first year and up to 10% by next year. Weber Escal in Croatia currently have 80% of the pamphlet and promotional material distribution market (unaddressed mail). Austrian Post too over ownership of Weber Escal in 2007.
