260,000 Croats Heading Off Abroad Skiing

More than 260,000 Croats will head abroad on holiday this week to skiing destinations, 30% more than last year, reports daily newspaper Jutarnji list.

Last year 200,000 set off in the first week of January, a traditional ski holiday period for Croats, and this year is set to be busier than last.

“Sales compared to last year are up about 30%. Skiers don’t really take advantage of last-minute deals and they book in advance. This year almost everyone is going between 5 – 12 January,” say travel agents Kompass.

Austria is still the most popular destination for families. Around 60 percent will head there this year. Italy is a close second, followed by Slovenia and France.
