The Sljeme cable car will be out of service for three weeks this month while it undergoes its regular annual technical inspection and servicing.
The cable car will not operate from Monday, 5 October, until Sunday, 25 October, Zagreb’s public transport operator ZET said.
The annual inspection is required under the technical requirements set by the equipment manufacturer and applicable regulations. It is a more extensive procedure than the regular monthly servicing carried out on the cable car.
The work has been scheduled for a period when passenger numbers are generally expected to be lower.
During the inspection, technicians will examine and test the cable car’s key systems and components. These include the drive system, cable, towers and pulley assemblies, braking system, main control system, electronic components and sensors.
The annual technical inspection is designed to verify that the systems are functioning correctly and that the necessary technical and safety conditions are in place for the cable car to resume normal operation.
Sljeme, on Medvednica mountain above Zagreb, is a popular destination for residents and visitors throughout the year, offering hiking, outdoor activities and views over the Croatian capital.
During the temporary closure, passengers travelling to Sljeme can use bus route 140 between Mihaljevac and Sljeme.
The cable car is expected to resume services after the completion of the annual inspection and servicing on 25 October.
