Zagreb public transport changes from Monday as new school year begins

ZAGREB, 3 September 2026 – Zagreb’s public transport network will operate with increased frequency from Monday, 7 September, as the new school year begins and demand for public transport rises.

The Zagreb Electric Tram (ZET) will switch to its autumn timetable, bringing several changes to tram and bus services across the city.

One of the main changes will be the return of tram services along Zvonimirova Street. Tram lines 9 and 17, as well as night tram line 32, will resume their regular routes.

At the same time, temporary bus line 602 (Trg žrtava fašizma – Borongaj), which was introduced while works were being carried out, will be discontinued.

The autumn timetable will also see the return of tram line 1, operating between Zapadni kolodvor and Borongaj.

Two bus services – 114 (Ljubljanica – Prečko) and 275 (Sesvete – Sesvetska Sopnica) – will also resume operation.

The changes come as schools across Zagreb reopen on Monday, bringing a significant increase in the number of children and young people travelling through the city, particularly around schools and kindergartens.

ZET has urged drivers and other road users to exercise increased caution, follow traffic regulations and pay particular attention to road signs in school zones.

Passengers have also been asked to cooperate with one another on public transport. ZET recommends that school bags and backpacks should not be carried on passengers’ backs while inside vehicles, but instead held in the hand to make more space and improve safety and comfort for other passengers.
