ZAGREB, 2 April 2026 – Pizza lovers are in for a treat as the fifth edition of the Pizza Festival returns to Zagreb this spring, bringing an impressive range of flavours and culinary creativity to the city.

The popular food festival will take place from 16 to 26 April at Trg dr. Franje Tuđmana, where visitors will be able to sample 47 different types of pizza over the course of eleven days.

This year’s event will feature 12 festival stalls, with eight dedicated to pizza. Five vendors will be appearing at the festival for the first time, while three returning favourites will once again showcase their creations.

Visitors will be able to explore a wide variety of pizza styles, including Neapolitan and Roman classics, contemporary interpretations and traditional pizza fritta.

The focus is firmly on high-quality dough and ingredients. Many of the pizzas are made using long fermentation methods and specialised flours such as Farina Speciale, creating lighter, more flavourful bases.

Toppings will combine authentic Italian ingredients – including San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, ricotta, burrata and stracciatella – with locally sourced products and creative additions.

Among the 47 pizzas available, visitors can expect both traditional favourites and inventive combinations featuring ingredients such as smoked mussels, octopus, toasted hazelnuts, porcini mushroom mousse, taleggio cheese, and fig and orange jam.

Among the newcomers is Butler Pizzeria, which will bring its own oven to the festival and serve pizzas based on slow-fermented dough, including Margherita, Capricciosa, Calabria, Boscaiola, Gamberette and Bufaline Rosso.

Come to Mama will present Roman-style pizzas with thin, crispy bases, including varieties such as Margherita, Capricciosa, Panceta, Tartuf Pršut and Beef.

From the coastal town of Vodice, Striky Pizza will introduce pinsa, a lighter style of pizza, with toppings such as bresaola, pastrami, seafood and mortadella.

Meanwhile, OMERTÀ Pizza Contemporanea will showcase modern interpretations including a reverse Margherita, a pizza topped with culatello, burrata and fig jam, and even a pizza fritta with pineapple and prosciutto. On 17 April, the stall will host guest pizzaiolo Dejan Parun from Novi Sad’s Tramontana pizzeria.

Returning favourites include Pizza Social Club, known for its contemporary dough and inventive toppings, Pizza Re, whose dough ferments for at least 48 hours, and Pizza Fritta, specialising in the classic fried pizza style.

The festival will offer much more than pizza.

Pastamisee will serve fresh pasta prepared inside a wheel of cheese, including Cacio e Pepe and a truffle variation.

Desserts will be created by pastry chef Juraj Klepić through his project Gdje je Jura, featuring several tiramisu variations, cannoli, Neapolitan baba and Italian-inspired cakes.
