Zagreb museum weekend returns with 160+ events across the city

Zagreb will once again put its museums and cultural heritage in the spotlight this September with the return of the Zagreb Museum Weekend – MUV, taking place from 3 to 6 September.

The four-day event will bring together 11 Zagreb museums and cultural institutions, offering more than 160 free programmes for visitors of all ages.

The second edition of MUV follows last year’s event, which attracted more than 20,000 visitors to the participating museums. Organisers are hoping to build on that response with a programme featuring exhibitions, expert tours, creative workshops, panel discussions, cultural walks and outdoor activities.

MUV will officially open on 3 September at Klovićevi Dvori Gallery with the exhibition Foundation for the Future – The Collection of Donated Artworks of the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery. Before the opening, the Archaeological Museum’s lapidarium will host A Break in the Lapidarium, featuring a special programme and a performance by Croatian band LHD.

The event will conclude in the courtyard of the Zagreb City Museum with Living Pictures, one of the museum’s best-known programmes, followed by music from DJ Glazbena kuhinja and Filmmusicorkestar.

Participating institutions include the Archaeological Museum, Ethnographic Museum, Croatian Natural History Museum, Croatian School Museum, Klovićevi Dvori Gallery, Zagreb City Museum, Museum of Prigorje, Museum of Contemporary Art, MUO Gallery, Nikola Tesla Technical Museum and the Art Pavilion.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to see the Art Pavilion ahead of its full reopening and first exhibition, expected later this year.

All museum admission and MUV programmes are free during the event, although registration is required for some workshops with limited places.

The organisers have chosen the slogan “Come to Your Senses at the Museum”, encouraging residents and visitors to slow down, explore the city’s museums and engage with Zagreb’s cultural heritage.
