ZAGREB, 30 May 2026 – The City of Zagreb has announced extended opening hours for restaurants and bars during Croatia’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, allowing fans to gather and watch the national team’s games despite late kick-off times.

Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević has adopted a decision extending the operating hours of hospitality venues across the city during Croatia’s group-stage matches at the tournament, which is being held in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Under the decision, hospitality establishments in the Restaurants and Bars category will be permitted to remain open later than usual on the days of Croatia’s matches.

The extended opening hours are as follows:

• 17 June 2026 – venues may remain open until 2.00 am for the England v Croatia match in Dallas.

• 24 June 2026 – venues may remain open until 3.00 am for the Panama v Croatia match in Toronto.

• 27 June 2026 – venues may remain open until 2.00 am for the Croatia v Ghana match in Philadelphia.

The move is expected to accommodate large numbers of supporters following Croatia’s World Cup campaign from hospitality venues across the capital.

Watching major football tournaments in bars, cafés and public spaces has long been part of Croatian sporting culture. During international tournaments, supporters regularly gather in city squares, fan zones and hospitality venues to follow matches together.

In Zagreb, Ban Jelačić Square has frequently served as a focal point for public screenings during major sporting events, drawing thousands of fans.

Bars and restaurants throughout the city also tend to be packed during Croatia matches.
