Zagreb Breaks Tourist Record Over Christmas Break

It seems recent promotion in publications around the world has had an effect. Close to 11,000 tourists visited Croatia’s capital Zagreb during the holiday period between 24 December 2012 to 2 January 2013, 11% more than in the same period last year.

The figures were published by the Zagreb Tourist Board, who noted that during the Christmas period the most amount of tourists arrived from Italy, followed by Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA and Slovenia.

December 2012 was also a record tourist month for the capital with close to 40,000 tourists visiting, up 4% from 2011. Annually tourist number rose between 5-8% in Zagreb in 2012. The most amount of tourists in 2012 to Zagreb arrived from Germany, followed by USA, Italy, UK, Spain and France.
