The average monthly net salary paid to employees of legal entities in Zagreb has reached €1,765, according to the latest figures from the City of Zagreb’s Statistical Office.

The figure from June represents a 0.4% increase compared with May and a 7.6% rise compared with June 2025, highlighting continued annual wage growth in Croatia’s capital.

The figures also show a significant difference between the average and the salary earned by the typical worker. The median net salary in Zagreb stood at €1,519 in June. This means that half of employees earned less than that amount, while the other half earned more.

Zagreb continued to record salaries well above the national average. The average net salary in Croatia in June was €1,555, meaning the Zagreb figure was €210 higher.

The average monthly gross salary in Zagreb reached €2,542 in June, an increase of 0.6% from May and 9% compared with the same month last year.

There were also substantial differences between individual sectors.

The highest average net salary was recorded in auxiliary activities supporting mining and quarrying, where employees received an average of €3,302 in June. At the other end of the scale, the lowest average net salary was recorded in the manufacture of clothing, at €1,021.

The gap between these two sectors was therefore more than €2,280 per month.

The City of Zagreb statistics cover employees in legal entities and provide monthly figures on net and gross salaries, including comparisons with previous months and the same period a year earlier.

The June figures form part of a broader upward trend in wages during 2026. National data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics also show continued annual growth in salaries. Across Croatia, the average net salary in June was €1,555, up 7.7% in nominal terms from a year earlier, while the average gross salary reached €2,184, an annual increase of 8.8%.

Zagreb remains the country’s leading urban labour market by average pay, although the latest figures underline the substantial differences that exist between industries.

The City of Zagreb publishes monthly salary statistics covering net and gross earnings and their movement throughout the year.
