A lot of space in the media all over the world has been dedicated to Croatia’s beautiful coast and spectacular islands recently, but little is written about inland Croatia and its fabulous countryside. UK tabloid the Daily Mirror however have taken the time to explore the part of Croatia not bustling with tourists this summer – Zagorje.

Exploring the countryside of Zagorje, the region north of the capital Zagreb, the first thing that hits you is how peaceful it is, with winding country roads and beautiful green hills as far as the eye can see. Houses are scattered across the landscape, only identifiable by their crimson-red slate roofs and neat little gardens.
