Young Croatian doctor named world’s top interventional cardiologist

ZAGREB, 10 May (Hina) – Josip Anđelo Borovac, a cardiology resident at the Clinic for Heart and Vascular Diseases at the Split University Hospital Centre, has been named the world’s best young interventional cardiologist.
According to a statement from the hospital, Borovac has received the 2025 award for outstanding young interventional cardiologists under the age of 40, presented by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI).
SCAI is one of the most prestigious international professional associations in the field of invasive and interventional cardiology, headquartered in the United States.
The annual award recognises excellence among cardiologists in the early stages of their careers in invasive cardiology.
Among the 29 global award recipients, Borovac is the first from Europe to receive this honour.

The award was presented to him on 3 May, during the closing ceremony of the annual SCAI 2025 Scientific Sessions, held in Washington, D.C.
