MAKARSKA, 28 May 2026 – The WTA Makarska Open hosted by Valamar will feature six Croatian tennis players this year, organisers have confirmed ahead of the tournament’s return to the Adriatic coast.
Tara Würth has been added to the main draw, joining fellow Croatian players Tena Lukas, Ana Konjuh, Lucija Ćirić Bagarić, Lea Bošković and Petra Marčinko, currently the country’s highest-ranked female tennis player.
The tournament will take place from 1-7 June at Makarska’s seaside tennis centre, with organisers expecting another week of international attention focused on the Dalmatian resort town.
The WTA Makarska Open has become one of the most recognised stops on the WTA 125 calendar in recent years. Earlier this year, the tournament received official recognition after being named the second-best tournament in the world in the WTA 125 category.
Alongside the sporting action, organisers have also announced a charitable initiative linked to ticket sales. Revenue from tickets, which are being sold at symbolic prices, will be donated to the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) – Makarska Station.
HGSS rescuers are regularly involved in rescue operations across Biokovo mountain, at sea and in difficult terrain throughout Croatia.
“This year we are also marking 20 years of WTA tournaments in Croatia, which gives this edition additional significance and emotion,” tournament director Feliks Lukas said.

“We are especially pleased that ticket revenue will go to HGSS members, who selflessly invest their time and effort to make our society safer and better. I invite all sports fans to come, support our tennis players and HGSS rescuers, and be part of a positive and meaningful initiative,” he added.
Makarska is once again preparing for a week centred around top-level tennis, with organisers hoping the combination of international sport and community support will continue to attract players and spectators alike.
