World’s Best Physicists in Split

‘Secrets of the origins of the universe’, ‘Transformation of energy into matter’, ‘Discovering Higgs Boson’, ‘The search for planets outside the solar system’ – these are the topics that the world’s best physicists will discuss at the International Scientific Conference which begins in the Dalmatian City of Split today.

The conference will also deal with the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator and its goal is to encourage more Croatian scientists to participate in the global project. This year the conference for the first time will show the physical results of the LHC project, which began late last year.

The Split conference will mark the 50th anniversary of the works of Professor Daniel Denegri, who was one of the leading figures of the CMS Collaboration (one of the LHC collaborations, which today boasts 3,000 scientists from around the world). The conference will bring together over 100 scientists from around the world, which will include 30-odd Croatian physicists and students, reports Croatian radiotelevision.
