Zadar welcomes Wizz Air for first time as new airport terminal nears opening

Wizz Air

Zadar Airport announced the arrival of a new airline to its network, with Wizz Air set to launch two new routes during the 2026 summer season.

From 7 June 2026, the Hungarian low-cost carrier will introduce flights connecting Zadar with Warsaw and Budapest, operating four times per week on each route.

The move marks the first time Wizz Air will operate services to Zadar, expanding the airport’s growing list of European connections and strengthening links with Central and Eastern Europe.

Airport officials say the new routes are expected to further boost visitor numbers and improve connectivity for both tourists and local travellers.

Expansion project nearing completion

The announcement comes as Zadar Airport moves closer to completing a major expansion of its passenger terminal.

The terminal upgrade forms part of a €100 million development project designed to significantly modernise the airport and prepare it for continued growth.

The new terminal building is expected to open by the end of the month, bringing a substantial increase in capacity and improving the overall passenger experience.

Once operational, the new facility will allow the airport to handle far greater passenger volumes compared with the current building.

The expanded infrastructure is expected to enable Zadar Airport to increase its seasonal capacity from the current 1.6 million passengers to at least three million passengers.

In addition to the new terminal, the development project will also include a runway extension of approximately 700 metres, as well as an expansion of the apron, allowing the airport to accommodate more aircraft.
