Vrgorac, 26 May 2026 – The town of Vrgorac in southern Croatia will once again become a key destination for food and wine enthusiasts as it prepares to host the ninth edition of the Days of Dalmatian Pršut and Wine on 5–6 June.

The two-day eno-gastronomic event will take place in the town’s central city park and will feature more than 50 exhibitors from Dalmatia and neighbouring countries.

The festival combines food tastings, wine presentations, professional discussions, competitions and live music.

Organisers say the event continues to grow in both scale and reputation, attracting visitors from across Croatia as well as international guests.

The festival highlights Vrgorac’s role as one of the key centres of Dalmatian pršut production. Visitors will be able to sample authentic local products, meet producers and explore a wide range of traditional and certified goods.

A major feature of the event is the largest fair dedicated exclusively to certified Dalmatian pršut. Products will be available for direct purchase from producers, reinforcing the event’s focus on authenticity and direct producer-to-consumer engagement.

Organisers, the Vrgorac Tourist Board and the City of Vrgorac, say the aim is to connect producers, industry experts and visitors while promoting the region’s strong eno-gastronomic identity.

According to Vrgorac Mayor Mile Herceg, the festival has grown beyond a local event and now attracts visitors from across the region and beyond.

He noted that guests regularly attend from Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia, highlighting the event’s increasing international profile.

The festival is presented as both a cultural and culinary showcase, combining traditional Dalmatian hospitality with a modern tourism offering.

Alongside the food and wine programme, the festival will also include live music performances.

On Friday, 5 June, the audience will be entertained by Stela Rade, while Saturday night, 6 June, will feature a concert by Croatian singer Petar Grašo. Both performances are expected to draw large crowds to the city park.

A round table discussion will also be held during the festival, focusing on the protected status of Dalmatian pršut.

Experts and members of the “Dalmatinski pršut” association will discuss production challenges, quality standards, and the product’s positioning on domestic and international markets.

Dalmatian pršut has held Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status since 2016, making it one of Croatia’s most recognisable gastronomic products.

Organisers emphasise that the festival also highlights Dalmatian wine traditions, with increasing interest in indigenous varieties such as vrgorska zlatarica, trnak and plavka, alongside other regional wines.

According to the association “Dalmatinski pršut”, the product represents more than a delicacy, describing it as part of the cultural identity and lifestyle of the region.

With its combination of food, wine, culture and live entertainment, the Days of Dalmatian Pršut and Wine has become one of the most visited eno-gastronomic events in Dalmatia.
