Voting has opened for the election of the best Christmas markets in Europe. Last year Zagreb won the title and this year they will try to defend it.

The Croatian capital beaten off the likes of London, Vienna, Berlin, Stockholm, Strasbourg and Nürnberg to be voted the ‘Best European Christmas Market in 2016’ by travellers on portal European Best Destinations.

A total of 101,703 votes from 176 countries were received, with Zagreb getting over 30,000 of them to be crowned the winner.

Voting opened on Friday 2 December 2016 for this year’s title.

10 days of online votes will determine this ranking of the best Christmas markets in Europe (from 2nd to 12th December). The results will be announced on the 13th December.
