Vis Woman (29) Gives Birth on Helicopter

A 29-year-old woman from the island of Vis has given birth on board a Croatian Air Force helicopter in the early hours of this morning…

The woman gave birth to a boy above the island of Šolta, 10 minutes before the helicopter was scheduled to land at the Split Hospital helipad.

Captain Joško Ivančević, co-pilot Marko Maradin, Jakov Matković, Leonardo Dumanić, Doctor Ante Pojatina and nurse Jadran Aranza were all on board to help successfully deliver the baby without any complications at 3:34am on Thursday. The baby and mother were both well and were transferred to Split hospital.

This morning’s delivery was the third on board a helicopter in recent times.
