VIDEO: Workers cutting the grass on Dubrovnik’s stone-paved streets

DUBROVNIK, 21 April 2020 – An usual sight on Tuesday morning in the Dalmatian city of Dubrovnik and local council workers tended to grass growing on the streets.

Earlier this month, a rare sight, which many residents could not remember happening before, greeted locals. With the city in lockdown and the famous streets having a rest from thousands of footsteps, nature was given an opportunity to take centre stage and grass started to grow between the polished stones.

“I do not ever remember grass growing on Stradun,” a local explained. “This is a sign that better times will come. Because nature is fighting. It is a sign that after the rain comes the sun, that after sadness comes happiness … that after illness comes health. We’re in this together.”

Today, council workers took to the streets to cut the grass. The video was published today by dubrovackidnevnik.net.hr.
