VIDEO: President opens the diaspora conference in Split  

President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović opens the conference via video link

SPLIT, 17 May 2019 – Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović has opened the 2nd International Conference on Diaspora Tourism on Friday morning via a video message.

After the national anthem and welcoming speeches from the president of the programme and organising committee, Marin Sopta, State Secretary of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad, Zvonko Milas, State Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Tonči Glavina and the vice president for International Affairs and EU at the Croatian Chamber of Economy, Ivan Barbarić, guests were played the video message from the president, who was unable to be in Split as she is currently on a State Visit to Canada.

There was also a message of support from Croatia football coach Zlatko Dalić.

The conference, which is taking place in Split on Friday and Saturday, aims to find ways to integrate all Croatians and to forge the future of the Croatian identity both in Croatia and abroad through social, economic and political solutions. The conference will also hear of stories of successful returnees who are making a difference in Croatia today.
