The Omiš bypass road project on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, which includes the building of a 216-metre bridge connecting two tunnels, is in full swing.

This is one of the most complex infrastructure projects currently going on in Croatia and also will see the construction of the Stobreč – Dugi Rat – Omiš fast road which will help alleviate traffic issues on the busy Split-Omiš route during the tourist season.

The construction of the bridge 70 metres above the canyon of the Cetina river, which will connect the new Komorjak tunnel with the existing Omiš tunnel, began back in 2019.

Construction of the bridge is progressing and when it is completed early next year it will provide stunning views over the town of Omiš.

All the works on the bypass road are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The town of Omiš is located on a narrow belt between the mainland and the mountains, along the mouth of the Cetina river which makes this an extremely difficulty project.

EdoStuff Aviation has published an impressive drone video showing the latest progress at the end of December. Check it out below.
