29 July 2019 – A stunning goal from Croatian vice-captain Ivan Rakitic for his club Barcelona has been nominated for UEFA Goal of the Season award.
Rakitic’s wonder-volley against Tottenham in the Champions League group stages has been shortlisted among ten goals for the award, UEFA announced.
The goal, which won goal of the month back in October, gave Barcelona a 2-0 over Tottenham at Wembley stadium. They would go on to win the match 4-2.
Voting is open until 9 August.
Rakitic is up against goals from Sarr (Stade Rennes), Faupala (Apollon), Pedro (Chelsea), Millot (France), Katerina Svitkova (Slavia Prague), Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus), Nani (Sporting Lisbon) and Danilo (Portugal), and you can cast your vote for him here.
