29 May 2019 – No matter where Croatia captain Luka Modrić goes he is a big star. The 2019 Ballon d’Or winner received a huge welcome in Kuwait this week where he took part in an exhibition match.
Modrić captained ‘Team Modrić’ against Luis Figo’s ‘Team Figo’ in an exhibition match as part of the ‘Al Roudan Futsal Tournament Kuwait 2019.’
Modrić was introduced to the crowd to loud chants of his name before he said a few words.
“This is my first time in Kuwait, thank you for your warm welcome. I feel very comfortable here and wish you enjoy the game,” Modrić said before the match.”
The match, which was played between former Real Madrid and Barcelona stars, ended in favour of Modrić’s team 7:6 with the Croatian captain scoring the winner. Modrić also treated the crowd to glimpses of his skills throughout the match.
“Pleasure to meet you my good friend Luka Modrić at the Al Roudan Futsal Tournament,” Figo said before posting a photo on social media.
