Croatian long-distance swimmer Dina Levačić has successfully completed a remarkable 34 km swim across the Derwent River in Tasmania, Australia.
Levačić began her swim on Sunday, 9 March 2025, at 3:41 am local time (Saturday, 8 March at 5:41 pm Croatian time).
She set off from New Norfolk Bridge, making her way to the Tasmania Bridge in Hobart, where the river meets the sea.
She completed the challenging swim in an impressive 7 hours and 28 minutes.
“This was a special swim because I started in the middle of the night. However, the conditions were amazing—calm water and, towards the end, a mix of river and seawater. The temperature was around 18°C. The only real challenge was the strong tide,” Levačić said after finishing the feat.
“I’m happy and can now return to Croatia with a sense of accomplishment.”

This achievement marks the second major challenge Levačić has conquered in Australia this year. On 22 February 2025, she completed the famous Rottnest Channel Swim, a prestigious open-water event that stretches from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island near Perth.
Despite challenging weather conditions, she finished the race in an impressive 6 hours and 47 minutes.
Levačić continues to establish herself as one of the world’s top endurance swimmers, taking on some of the most demanding open-water challenges.
