Tonight’s Round of 16 match against Denmark could feel like a home game for Croatia with a big Croatian contingent converging on Nizhny Novgorod.
The atmosphere at Nizhny Novgorod stadium tonight is set to replicate Croatia’s opening match against Nigeria when over 15,000 Croatian fans made their presence felt in the stands.
Nigeria’s coach said after the match that it felt like a home game for Croatia and that could be the case again tonight.
Danish media has reported that the Danish Football Federation had 3,465 tickets available for fans but many would go unused by Danish supporters. They estimate only a couple thousand Danish fans will be at the match.
Again Croatian supporters have been streaming in from all over the world to Nizhny Novgorod. Most have arrived from Croatia and Germany, but there are also fans from the UK, America, Canada, Australia, Switzerland and Austria other countries.
The atmosphere has been slowly building around the city with songs echoing from cafes in town as fans warm their voices up for tonight as can be seen in the videos below:
